What is the Ping G430 LST fairway wood, and who is it for?

The G430 LST is the low-spin, tour-style fairway in Ping's G430 line — and it is built quite differently from the rest of the range. Where most fairway woods use a stainless steel body, the LST is a titanium construction with a tungsten sole plate, and that combination is the whole point.

  • 2041 Beta-Ti face and Ti 8-1-1 body. Titanium is lighter than steel for the same strength, which frees mass to be placed where it does more good.
  • High-density tungsten sole plate. That freed mass goes into a tungsten plate low and back in the head, positioning the centre of gravity for faster ball speed with less spin — the pairing that produces distance rather than height.
  • A face that wraps into the crown and sole. The high-strength titanium face extends past the front of the head, so more of it flexes at impact and more ball speed survives.
  • Spinsistency variable roll radius. The face curvature varies across its height, which holds spin steadier — and it matters most on thin shots, the miss that punishes a fairway wood hardest.
  • Carbonfly Wrap crown. Carbon in the crown lowers CG further, adding ball speed and forgiveness, with a more pleasing sound at impact.

It suits you if your fairway wood spends most of its time off the tee and from clean lies, and you want a penetrating flight that holds its line rather than climbing.

Available here in 15° — the only loft Ping built this head in — as a 169cc head weighing 218g, at 43" standard length with 56.0° lie. Ping's Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel gives ±1.5° of loft adjustment after the build.

Why is the G430 LST only made in a 3 wood?

Because of what it is for. Ping built the LST as the low-spin, tour-style fairway — a club aimed at players who use it off the tee and from clean lies, where spin control matters more than launch help.

That job only really exists at 3-wood loft. By 5 wood and above, the priority flips to getting the ball airborne off the turf, and a low-spin tour head is the wrong tool for it — you would be fighting the club's whole design intent.

So this is a 15° only club by design, not by omission. Ping built exactly one loft here because exactly one loft made sense.

How much does a custom-built G430 LST fairway cost compared to new?

Custom G430 LST fairway builds start at $249.99. Premium aftermarket shafts are available at additional cost, so your final price depends on the shaft you select on this page.

Both the head and the shaft are pre-owned, and that is where the saving comes from. A premium aftermarket shaft is the most expensive component in a new custom build; buying that shaft pre-owned rather than new is what brings the whole club within reach.

Put together, a custom-built G430 LST fairway from us commonly lands at around 50% of what the equivalent new build costs at retail — new head, new aftermarket shaft, fitted and assembled. The exact gap depends on the specification you choose.

What condition are your pre-owned G430 LST heads in?

Every custom club build is offered in three head grades:

Good — clear signs of play. Sole wear, face marks and scratching are visible, and the finish may show wear at the edges. All blemishes are cosmetic and do not affect playability at all.

Very Good — normal signs of play, above average for the model. Light signs of use such as sole scratches and light crown or face marks consistent with a head of its age.

Excellent — minimal signs of play. A clean crown with light contact marks on the sole.

Whichever grade you choose, every head is inspected and authenticated by our team before it goes into a build. The photographs on this listing may not be of the exact head you receive, but please refer to our condition guide and the example condition photos provided.

How long does a custom G430 LST fairway build take, and how do I specify it?

Allow 1–2 weeks for all custom club orders.

You select the loft, shaft brand, shaft model and flex on this page — choose a shaft brand and the model and flex options for that brand appear. Everything you need to specify a standard-length build is on the page.

For any length alterations, email customerservice@thetourtruck.com after placing your order. If we do not hear from you, we build the club to standard length with the shaft you selected.
