What is the TaylorMade SIM2 Max driver, and who is it for?
The SIM2 Max was the forgiveness model in TaylorMade's 2021 SIM2 driver family — the one aimed at the widest range of players in that generation.
It suits you if you want a stable, forgiving head and would rather put the money into a properly fitted shaft than into the newest release.
Available here in 9°, 10.5°. It carries a loft sleeve, so loft and face angle can be adjusted after the build.
How much does a custom-built SIM2 Max cost compared to new?
Custom SIM2 Max builds start at $249.99. Premium aftermarket shafts are available at additional cost, so your final price depends on the shaft you select on this page.
Both the head and the shaft are pre-owned, and that is where the saving comes from. A premium aftermarket shaft is the most expensive component in a new custom build; buying that shaft pre-owned rather than new is what brings the whole club within reach.
Put together, a custom-built SIM2 Max from us commonly lands at around 50% of what the equivalent new build costs at retail — new head, new aftermarket shaft, fitted and assembled. The exact gap depends on the specification you choose.
What condition are your pre-owned SIM2 Max heads in?
Every custom club build is offered in three head grades:
Good — clear signs of play. Sole wear, face marks and scratching are visible, and the finish may show wear at the edges. All blemishes are cosmetic and do not affect playability at all.
Very Good — normal signs of play, above average for the model. Light signs of use such as sole scratches and light crown or face marks consistent with a head of its age.
Excellent — minimal signs of play. A clean crown with light contact marks on the sole.
Whichever grade you choose, every head is inspected and authenticated by our team before it goes into a build. The photographs on this listing may not be of the exact head you receive, but please refer to our condition guide and the example condition photos provided.
How long does a custom SIM2 Max build take, and how do I specify it?
Allow 1–2 weeks for all custom club orders.
You select the loft, shaft brand, shaft model and flex on this page — choose a shaft brand and the model and flex options for that brand appear. Everything you need to specify a standard-length build is on the page.
For any length alterations, email customerservice@thetourtruck.com after placing your order. If we do not hear from you, we build the club to standard length with the shaft you selected.
Shipping is free via UPS Ground from our Southern California warehouse.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an authentic TaylorMade SIM2 Max head?
Yes. We sell only 100% authentic clubs and club components, and every SIM2 Max head is inspected and authenticated by our team before it enters a build.
Are the shafts new or pre-owned?
Pre-owned. Both the head and the shaft are pre-owned, which is why a custom SIM2 Max build commonly costs around half of the equivalent new build at retail.
How much does a custom SIM2 Max build cost?
Builds start at $249.99. Premium aftermarket shafts are available at additional cost, so the final price depends on the shaft you choose.
Can I choose a shaft brand that isn't listed?
Email customerservice@thetourtruck.com with the shaft you want and we will source it and quote you a price.
Will the club I receive look exactly like the photos?
Not necessarily. The photos show a representative SIM2 Max head. The head you receive will match the stated condition grade.
